“We are more than just a coffee shop”
ABOUT US
Ground Up was conceived to help our local community recover from the Covid-19 lock-downs experienced from 2020-2021.
We opened our doors on Monday 25th April 2021, and are driven by our catch phrase, ‘for the love of locals'.
OUR MISSION
Ground Up is passionate about cultivating a 'home away from home'.
From the beginning to the end of your experience, our close-knit team looks forward to providing great service and satisfaction through genuine customer connection and quality taste.

We are a growing multifaceted social networking hot-spot, which aims to embed our ethos into every aspect of the business. Ground Up is a part of the mission to facilitate connection, through creativity and kindness, for positive transformation within the lives of their community.
OUR PROGRESS
Over the past two years we've seen consistent growth in our customer base and community network, allowing creativity a place in the menu and resource development.
Ground Up, located within a beautiful historical church building from 1887, formerly known as St. Anne’s, had been abandoned for 5 years before Urban Crofters' senior leaders, Will and Jude Souter, initiated a divine vision revitalizing the space after much prayer and action, with the help of many volunteers and significant construction for the enjoyment of the community.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY

Oliver Baynham
Finding this beautiful little café has genuinely changed my life! I'm there at least four days a week now to work - the coffee is delicious, there's always space to sit, and the staff are some of the friendliest people I've ever met.

Alf Dinnie
Great atmosphere with background music, great WiFi for remote work & spacious indoor/outdoor seating. Three tiered price system to "pay what you want" is a really unique and brilliant idea.

Franziska Dimitrova
Ideal place to study and work - you could hear your own thoughts as opposed to centro-urban mainstream hustling and bustling cafe houses.
